I don't know is she completely understands my thoughts on such issues, but I do know that she loves me enough to ask questions and try to understand. I do know that she understands that my views are just that and that they cannot and will not answer for an entire group of people. We only expect to receive honest and open communication about how a particular issue effects us. Not the whole culture. Yes that is the word that should be utilized insted of race. The color of ones skin has no bearing in what they say or do, but the culture in which he/she has been socialized does. Race is only one of the many components of ones culture. It's unfortunate that it's the one that American society tends to focus upon. We as a society are either too lazy or don't care enough to look for the real factors, so we blame race for everything. The more that we learn about each other individually the more we can accomplish. If you want to really impact race relations, have a serious discussion with someone of a different race, ethnicity, or culture and ask them to speak for themselves not their entire group. Try it, you'll like it.
